Lois Jean Komro
Apr 13, 2018She was born March 1, 1934, in Independence to Irvin and Vera (Bautch) Back. She grew up there on her family’s farm and graduated from Independence High School in 1952. She was united in marriage to John Willis Komro Nov. 29, 1952, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mondovi. Together they made their home in Mondovi and welcomed three children. Willis passed away Sep. 1, 1958. Lois later began her career at Heike Realty and Construction, which lasted for 42 years, three weeks, and 1½ hours. After her retirement, she took care calls for the Mondovi Veterinary Service for many years. She was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mondovi. Lois dedicated her life to raising her family. In her own words, “my children have fulfilled my life with their way of life and accomplishments.” She always lived by the motto “life is good.”Lois is survived by her three children, Jeanne Wind of Tampa, Fla., Roxie (Greg) Glaus of Durand, and Dale (Mary) Komro of Holmen; eight grandchildren, Kelly (Dave) Wallerman, Jolee (Jason) Glampe, Paul (Amanda) Glaus, Dave (Sara) Glaus, Travis Braly, Cortney (Josh) Gerving, Lauren (George) Metropulos, and Jacob John Willis Komro; eleven great-grandchildren, Bryant, Ashlynn, Allison, Jackson, Devin, Clare, Christian, Landen, Adelyn, Georgia, and Josephine; brother, Roger (Marilou) Back of Ill.; sister-in-law, Mrs. Floyd (Arlene) Back of Chippewa Falls; many nieces and nephews; and many close and dear friends.She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis; parents; father-in-law, Frank Komro; mother-in-law, Christine (Sig, Sr.) Weiss; son-in-law, Ron Wind; two brothers, Floyd Back and Gaylord (Jeannie) Back; and sister-in-law, Gertrude (George) Dekan.A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 25, at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home, Mondovi, with Father Paul Bosco officiating. Visitation will be from 1p.m. until the time of the service.A private family burial will be held at a later date. (La Crosse Tribune)
